Nine Floors Down

Licensing and rights

We write and own the songs we offer, so licensing is direct. Here is how it works in plain English.

What we need to know to quote

MediaWhere it will appear: TV, online video, social, cinema, radio, in-store, festivals.
TerritoryThe UK, Europe, worldwide, or another area.
TermHow long you need it: one year, two, five, or in perpetuity.
VersionFull song, instrumental, cut-downs, or a new commission.

Licence or buyout

A licence lets you use a song for an agreed media, territory and term. We keep ownership. A buyout is a larger one-off fee for wider or longer use. Either way, the terms are written down before work starts or the song is released to you.

Writer and performance rights

We are the writers of the lyrics and music. Performance royalties from broadcast are collected through PRS for Music and, for the recordings, PPL. We supply a cue sheet for every broadcast use so credits and royalties are correct.

How our vocals are made

Where a vocal on a song is AI-assisted, we say so on the song page and in your licence. Instrumental versions are always available, and a version with a human vocalist can be arranged on request.

Fees depend on the use. Send a brief for a written quote.
